I’m working in Silicon Valley this week, and after flying in on Monday morning I hit a Safeway grocery store in the afternoon, on the way "home" to my crash pad. Everything’s more expensive in Silicon Valley, including the food – the tab on this haul was $64.32!
This is all best-of-breed stuff, if your bach’ing (or bach-etting) it for a week. A jar of Mission Salsa Con Queso (I still had a half bag of Santitas tortilla strips from my last trip), a large can of Planters mixed nuts for the office (mixed with plain M&M’s from the vending machine!), Safeway Select Steakhouse Chili, P.F. Chang’s Chicken Fried Rice and Signature Spicy Chicken, Safeway Select Sausage, Egg & Cheese Biscuits, Ocean Spray Cran-Apple juice, and Belching Beaver Deftones Phantom Bride IPA.
Invariably, there will be some of the mixed nuts and a juice leftover, but it works fairly well. This was my first time with the Deftones Phantom Bride, and probably my last. It’s great if you like session IPA’s and lighter, citrusy IPA’s (Deftones - seriously?) but I like a bit more boldness in my IPA’s. That being said, there’s no lack of variety in California! Lots of great local brews to keep you busy, if you’re into variety.
