There's a lot of buzz around the new Top Gun movie slated to come out in the summer of 2020. The film is being co-produced by Paramount Pictures, a subsidiary of Viacom, and Skydance Media, a privately held production company based in Santa Monica, California. It turns out that Viacom is not the only way to play this new movie release - in 2018 Tencent Holdings purchased a minority stake in Skydance Media.
Shenzhen-based social media giant Tencent Holdings has acquired a minority stake in Los Angeles-based production company Skydance Media, the companies said Thursday, in a move that bucks the recent trend of Chinese companies avoiding Hollywood investments.
