It makes sense that it would be caught in August, since people tend to go on vacation in August, and rogue traders tend to get caught when they’re on vacation. That is a piece of conventional wisdom in finance - "never takes vacation" is a well-known red flag for rogue trading, and most firms require traders to take vacation every year so someone else can check their books
